How Hayley First Started Out and How Far She Has Come

Hayley Marshall grew up in the north-western suburbs of Sydney, surrounded by loud music and rich culture. Having parents in a pub rock band, it was almost inevitable that growing up, she would want to throw her hat in the musical ring. This childhood history lead her to her unique Indie/Alternative Rock sound she possesses today.

At the age of 6, Hayley performed at the (Mean) Fiddler. From here on, she had a penchant for performing, and would play every opportunity she could. Throughout high school, she would be the school’s first point of call for anything music-related, she also kept up her match fitness by occasionally playing charity events with her parents’ band and participate in her music school’s annual concert.

As soon as Hayley turned 18, she was signed with The Sphere Organisation and began performing in pubs and clubs. Today, her original sound is dark and full but simplistic, drawing on classic rock sounds. Some of her greatest influences include Led Zeppelin, Billie Joel, London Grammar, Green Day and Paramore and this shows in her original sound. For a better understanding, you may want to give her originals a listen. Her live sound, however, is more versatile. Hayley is raunchy and energetic when playing the sounds of AC/DC or Guns ‘N Roses, but relaxed and captivating when playing the tunes of Tracy Chapman or The Weeknd.

Some of Hayley’s biggest achievements in her musical career have been playing charity events such as; the Relay for Life in 2014; ‘Suicide Awareness Day’ at the Ettahmogah pub in 2017—which was covered by the Hills District local newspaper; residencies at Windsor RSL and Lynwood Country Club in 2018 and 2019, and; live original gigs at Hotel Steyne in Manly and Moshpit in Erskenville in 2020.

Currently, Hayley is continuing her live gigs throughout New South Wales, releasing new covers, trying to record her originals that have been held in her back pocket for way too long, and she is also back in the writing process, trying to bang out some new material.
